Cross party
support for our CARES campaign remains as strong as ever.
A spokesperson
for the
Southport Party
stated:
“The
Southport Party continue to fully support CARES and we recognise the hard work
they have put in over the years since the children’s A&E moved to Ormskirk. We
wish, as CARES do, to regain services for children in Southport.“
Councillor
Brenda Porter,
Conservative
Prospective MP for Southport stated:
“The March
organised by CARES 5 years ago represented the beginning of the fight back by
the Southport Community against the transfer of their Women’s and Children’s
Medical Services to Ormskirk. After many years campaigning I welcome the Primary
Care Trusts acknowledgement that there is a need for a Children’s Unit in
Southport, and their intention to provide such a Unit. However, our long term
strategy must be to continue to listen to our community and work for a return of
our Children’s A & E and maternity provision to our Town.”
Southport UKIP told CARES:
“Whilst
UKIP are happy to play their part in setting up a minor injuries unit in
Southport—on the basis that it is better than the existing absence of any
children’s services at all, we nevertheless continue o fight on all fronts to
bring full children’s A&E & maternity back to our town.”
