Concern for our lost services or political point-scoring?

Are Southport's Libdems playing political games with our health service campaigners?

CARES is not a political group and we have made this very clear many times over the years. We do however draw readers’ attention to the following disconcerting issue.

We note that a certain picture of Conservative councillor Brenda Porter (a most determined lady who has fought long and hard for the return of our lost hospital services) is being used by the Southport Libdem faction  in a somewhat negative fashion on their blog site.

The photograph in question. Cllr Brenda Porter, seen here at KGV CARES meeting in Oct. 2005, campaigning avidly for our health services.

CARES, who have this image on the following link, were kindly given it on disc along with other pictures from Phil Rodwell of SGB website following a CARES meeting at KGV College.

In the picture Cllr. Brenda Porter was simply speaking passionately in favour of retaining our health services at this event back in October 2005.

CARES clearly state on this link ........

“Pictures of the event by courtesy of Phil Rodwell of SGB.”

We are also now informed that the Libdems are using the very same image of Cllr Porter on their political door-to-door literature in a similarly pessimistic fashion.

The image first appeared on CARES site (as in the link above) and SGB website.

Do the Libdems in fact have permission to utilise this image?

Cllr Porter was depicted first and foremost as fighting for our health services on this picture, ergo what we ask do the Libdems hope to achieve herein?

Seeking to make this image into something which it clearly is 'not' amounts to nothing more than political spin.

Taking political cheap shots at other people who display true long-standing commitment to such a noble cause as genuinely supporting the parents and the children of this town is pitiful in the extreme.

Southport families deserve better!

CARES will continue to campaign for reinstatement of our children's and maternity services.
