CARES Press Release

June/July  2009

WHAT ARE THE HEALTH AUTHORITIES PLAYING AT?

CARES demand to know:

“Where is the long awaited and much promised Walk in Centre for our children?”

Once again it looks as if our children have been let down by the health authorities. Southport families are still being treated like second class citizens by the NHS.

We and others have been in talks now for over six years with the Primary Care Trust and just when we finally thought it w as to happen they have it seems disappeared from the face of the earth.

It was promised for the end of this year, it was stated that a questionnaire was being put out to parents, through schools and nurseries and health visitors; two sites were to be discussed then- nothing!

CARES members, along with a group of other concerned individuals, have constantly and freely given their time and energies to these ongoing meetings, in order that something solid would come from them.

The NHS should be free at the point of need, but the point of need is our children s health and it is six years long overdue.

CARES have written twice recently to the PCT but received no reply, so we are asking through the local media -  “Just what is going on?”

All concerned parties need to know what the health authorities are actually playing at - now!

When are the children of our region going to have urgent medical facility access in our town?

Enough of hollow promises – where exactly is the action?
