PCT Stakeholders Summit meeting
11th Feb. 2008
Margaret Brown and Cath Regan of the CARES group - fighting for our children's
services.
Will a form of emergency care for Southport’s children
be returned to our resort when a Stakeholders’ Summit takes place today at the
Ainsdale Centre for Health and Wellbeing?
CARES Campaigners expect Sefton Primary Care Trust to outline what level of
children’s provision is to be supplied to the town at the meeting. The PCT
previously ruled out providing the full range of A&E facilities, but could agree
to an urgent care centre with X-ray facilities based in Southport.
Margaret Brown, co-chairwoman CARES campaign group, said:
“I am hoping that they will announce some form of care for our kids."
Cath Regan, co-chairwoman CARES campaign group added:
"It is time for the PCT to deliver the goods. We have been fighting this issue tooth and nail since our children's services were taken away several years ago. Southport needs concrete action 'now' not words!"
CARES will continue to campaign for full reinstatement of A&E facilities for our children and other lost hospital services.
