Children’s services meeting
Managers from NHS Sefton have met with a range of community representatives
(Friday 31st October) to look at plans for a children’s walk-in centre in
Southport.
Options for the location of the centre and how it would be run were discussed at
the meeting.
NHS Sefton’s commitment to developing a minor injuries and ailments walk-in
centre for children and young people, and consulting local people on the options
for such a scheme was reiterated at the meeting.
A 12 week public consultation with local residents is expected to get underway
before Christmas.
Leigh Griffin, Chief Executive of NHS Sefton, said: “This was an extremely
positive meeting. I believe that all parties now share a commitment to
developing a walk-in centre as soon as possible, so that children and their
families to be able to access treatment for minor injuries and ailments closer
to home.
“I look forward to sharing our plans and the different options with Southport
residents later in December.”
Two possible locations for the walk-in centre have been identified. They are
Southport Centre for Health and Wellbeing, Hoghton Street, or on the Southport
Hospital site, Town Lane. NHS Sefton hopes to develop the centre over the next
12 - 18 months.
