WIND OF CHANGE
15th August 2004
Today more than 600 families took the
opportunity to sign and place windmills within the grounds of Christ Church to
support the CARES campaign to return Children’s emergency services back to
Southport on the anniversary of the public march against the closures. John
Price (Ambulance Technician), Terry Durance and two helpers marched from
Southport Hospital to the Town Hall in recognition of the route followed by
3,000 people last year.
Angie Weatherby & Cath Regan, Co-Chairmen of CARES said:
“People continue to show their support for our campaign in their thousands. It is clear from today that people are still angry and frustrated at the closures at Southport Hospital and want to see children’s emergency services restored in Southport. We will not be fobbed of with half measures and we will continue to press for emergency cover for children in our town.”
CARES would like to thank all the people who supported this protest.
